Connect Govlin

Settings answers: how is Govlin connected? Each part is a section of its own: Setup and Organization for administrators, Account, Preferences and System for everyone. Opening Settings takes an administrator to Setup and everyone else to Preferences.

Setup (administrators)

Six steps, each with its state (Ready, Needs action or Blocked). The selected step says what is missing and shows only its own editor. Edits are a draft until you save the profile.

  1. Organization profile: organization, repository, default branch, Jira project key, the integrations you use and what Govlin checks. The level of the rules is shown read-only; change it in Rules.
  2. Integrations: GitHub, Jira, Jenkins, SonarQube, Render and Vercel. The step says how many of the selected integrations already send evidence. See Integrations.
  3. GitHub Actions workflows: the workflow pack generated from the profile, with its variables and secrets.
  4. Workflows in the repository: install them through a reviewed pull request, then run the read-only installation check.
  5. Variables and secrets: create them in the repository settings on GitHub. Govlin checks the names only and never reads the values.
  6. Release approval policy: Record only (the default: keeps the evidence and never blocks), Warn, Requires approval or Requires a quorum, and per-environment overrides such as a stricter policy for production.

Each step can carry follow-up notes: owner, target date, an external reference and notes. Advanced holds the downloads: adoption pack, workflow pack, setup report and remediation plan.

Organization (administrators)

Who has access? The title says how many people are active.

  • People: add a person with a role (Admin, Architect, Developer, PM or Auditor), enable or disable them, and issue them an access key, shown only once.
  • Invitations: by GitHub login or email, renewed or revoked.
  • Team activity: over 7, 30 or 90 days, by person and by repository.
  • Access keys: for services and CI, revoked after a confirmation.

A disabled person's keys stop working on their next request. Their history stays.

Account

Your GitHub identity, your role, a local PIN that locks Govlin on this computer until it is typed, and sign-out.

Preferences

  • Language: English or Spanish.
  • Time zone: Govlin stores every time in UTC and shows it in this zone.
  • Desktop notifications: operating system alerts when something happens in Govlin.

System

  • Connection: the server Govlin is connected to. Changing the server is folded away.
  • Pending deliveries: "Everything was sent", unless events are waiting or failed.
  • Updates: Stable or Beta channel, check or install, what changes, and a link to the website download.
  • Repository: the repository Govlin detected and how to change it.

Roles and permissions

A role only sets default permissions; each person sees the sections their permissions allow.
